Pixel Perfect

I always had a deep affection for pixel art, both as a designer and an animator. I am enthusiastically exploring new themes and ideas within the realm of pixel art, as it has become an integral part of my personal style.

The core theme of my animations draws significant inspiration from the 8-bit-styled video games I enjoyed playing growing up and even now. These games have consistently evoked a sense of nostalgia and comfort within me, and I am driven to impart that same sensation to others. Even if pixel art is an unfamiliar territory for some, my shorts are designed to be relatable and enjoyable. They aim to bridge the gap between unfamiliarity and delight, making the world of pixel art accessible and fun for everyone.

“Day in the life”

I’ve crafted this 60-second 'day in the life' animated loop, capturing what I consider the most hectic moments of my life as a full-time college student juggling three jobs and commuting in and out of the big city for the past four years.

It’s a narrative of my daily routine as a college student, which I hope will resonate with anyone who has experienced stressful periods during their college years.

The tone of the video is playful yet relatable, emphasizing that we all lead busy lives. I chose to create the theme in 8-bit pixel art, not just because I love its timeless, nostalgic feel—like you’re re-playing an old video game—but also because I've always wanted to experiment with this animation style, which turned out to come together really well.

Ultimately, it’s the people or things we return to at the end of the day that provide the support and encouragement we need to keep moving forward in our lives.

I will be creating short 5-10 video game menu screens that I reimagine as daily life 'games,' and I will be uploading them as I go.
